WILLIAMSBURG WITH MY HUSBAND'S FAMILY

IN THE WINTER OF 1975 MY FUTURE HUSBAND'S FAMILY VISITED HISTORIC WILLIAMSBURG IN A WINNABAGO. WE VISITED ALL OF THE BUILDINGS BUILT IN THE 18TH CENTURY. THIS VILLAGE OF 300 ACRES HAS 88 BUILDINGS INCLUDING SHOPS, HOUSES, PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES. THIS VILLAGE WAS OUR CAPITAL IN 18TH CENTURY. THE GOVERNOR'S PALACE WAS A BRITISH ORDER OF THE COLONIES THE MAGAZINE HELD GUNS AND AMMUNITION.

FOR TEACHING THE YOUNGSTERS THEY HAD PRIVATE TUTORS INSTEAD OF SCHOOL. CHURCHES WERE BOTH FOR SPIRITUAL AND CIVIC LIFE.

THE HOUSES HAVE COSTUMED INTERPRETORS WHO GIVE TOURS OF EACH BUILDING. THERE ARE VARIOUS TRADES REPRESENTED SUCH AS SPINNING AND WEAVING WOOL, BLACKSMITHING, COOKING, TAVERNS, THEATERS, AND MARKETS.

THEY HAVE RARE BREEDS OF ANIMALS KEPT HERE IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THEM. ANIMALS INCLUDE AMERICAN DRAFT HORSES, CANADIAN HORSES, DEVON COWS, MILKING SHORTHORN COWS, AND VARIOUS RARE CHICKENS.
