THIS FESTIVAL IS IN THE COUNTRYSIDE OF SAN RAFAEL. IT HAS BEEN A PRODUCTION FOR MANY YEARS. MY HUSBAND AND I WENT THERE WHEN WE FIRST MOVED HERE FROM PHOENIX IN THE 80'S. THEIR PRODUCTIONS AND EVENTS ARE HELD IN A FOREST TO THE EAST OF TOWN. WE USED TO GO THERE TO EXPERIENCE THIS HISTORIC LIFE OF EARLY ENGLAND.
THEY HAVE PEOPLE DRESSED IN OLD ENGLISH COSTUMES, PEOPLE SELLING THEIR WEARS AND CRAFTS SUCH AS CANDLES, JEWELRY, BOOKS, CD'S AND FOODS. THEY HAVE MANY SHORT EVENTS OF SHAKESPEAREAN PRODUCTIONS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THEY HAVE BUILT HOUSES IN SOME OF THE TREETOPS AND IT IS VERY FUN PLACE TO VIEW A DIFFERENT TYPE OF LIFESTYLE.
THEIR PERFORMANCES ARE VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND WE ENJOYED THEM AND THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ABOUT THE VILLAGE ARE CLOWNS, OLD WOMEN SPINNING WOOL, AND MEN PLAYING FLUTES.
WE ALSO ATTENDED THE HIGHLY ACCLAIMED ASHLAND FESTIVAL OF SHAKESPEAREAN PLAYS SEVERAL TIMES. THEY ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HOWEVER I LIKE THE COSTUMES AND MUSIC AS WELL AS THE ATMOSPHERE IN ASHLAND,
WE USED TO WORK ON THE KLAMATH FOREST AND WE WOULD GO TO ASHLAND ONCE IN AWHILE. THEY HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CREEK IN TOWN WITH A WONDERFUL TRAIL. WE TOOK PHOTOS OF THIS SULPHUR CREEK. THEY DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO SWIM THERE. THE ENTIRE TOWN IS FULL OF TOURISTS. THEY HAVE A NEAT NATIVE AMERICAN SHOP IN TOWN AND I BOUGHT A SILK PAINTING OF A BEAR IN THE WILDERNESS.
