MY FAMILY WENT TO WISCONSIN EVERY WINTER AND SOMETIMES IN THE SUMMER TO MY AUNT'S AND UNCLE'S HOUSE. MY COUSINS WERE A LITTLE YOUNGER THAN WE WERE AND IN THE WINTER THE KIDS WENT TOBOGONNING DOWN A SNOWY SLOPE AND ALMOST FELL INTO A RIVER. BUT THE TOBOGAN HELD ABOUT 5 OF US AND WE DUG OUR BOOTS INTO THE SNOW IN ORDER TO STOP IT FROM GOING INTO THE CREEK. SOME PEOPLE ON ROUND SLEDS WENT VERY FAST - THEY SOMETIMES BOUNCED ACROSS THE CREEK. WE ALWAYS WENT TO CHURCH WITH THEM AT CHRISTMAS.
I REMEMBER WHEN WE FLEW THERE FOR CHRISTMAS FROM PHOENIX. IT WAS 80 DEGREES IN PHOENIX AND 40 BELOW ZERO WITH WIND CHILL! THEY HAVE SUPER COLD WINTERS - I JUST CAN'T HANDLE THAT COLD ANYMORE..
I REMEMBER GOING HIKING WITH MY COUSINS AS WELL AS TRICK OR TREATING. WE VISITED THEIR FAMILY OFTEN. WE BROUGHT THICK WINTER BOOTS AND HIKED THROUGH THE SNOW WHERE THEY LIVED IN A LARGE SPACEY SUBURB OF MENOMENEE FALLS. I WAS AMAZED ABOUT THE LARGE YARDS THEY HAVE IN WISCONSIN. IT SEEMS LIKE SUCH A WASTE OF WATER TO MAINTAIN THESE LARGE GRASSY YARDS. AND THEN CUTTING THE GRASS IS ENORMOUS AS WELL.
