YOSEMITE CAMPING AND HIKING TRIPS

OUR FAMILY USED TO TAKE MANY FIELD TRIPS TO THE YOSEMITE VILLAGE AND WE SOMETIMES STAYED AT CURRY VILLAGE AND WE SOMETIMES CAMPED AT THE BOTTOM CAMPGROUND AS WELL AS THE UPPER CAMPGROUND. WE WERE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT OUR FOOD AS THERE ARE MANY BEARS - THE BEARS BROKE INTO OUR CAR AND CREATED A MESS. WE HAD ONLY A SMALL FOOD STORAGE AREA. THIS EVENT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. WE TRIED TO PHONE THE RANGERS AND THEY SAID JUST TO BANG YOUR POTS AND PANS! WE TRIED THAT AND THEY STRAYED AWAY, BUT AFTER THEM CAME THE LARGE RACOONS WHICH ATE MOST OF THE BOXES OF CEREAL. THEN CAME THE SQUIRRELS. I HAD PULLED MY SON OUT THE BACK SIDE OF THE TENT CARRYING HIM TO THE PHONE BOOTH. HE WAS JUST A LITTLE 5 YEAR OLD. ANYWAY WE STAYED IN THE BATHROOM UNTIL THE BEARS WENT AWAY. WE MOVED TO ANOTHER CAMPGROUND WHICH HAD A LARGER BEAR BOX. THIS CAMPGROUND HAD PEOPLE SHOOT THE BEARS WITH RUBBER BULLETS. THEY ALSO BEAT THEIR POTS ANDS PANS. THIS WAS A DAILY EVENT AND PEOPLE STOOD AROUND TO WATCH THE BEARS RUN AWAY!

WE USUALLY HIKED UP TO VERNAL FALLS AND WE WENT SLOWLY SO WE COULD STAY TOGETHER AND ENJOY THE WATERFALL. SOMETIMES WE CLIMB UP TO UPPER FALLS AND FOUND EVEN HIGHER WATER FALLS TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF.

WE BROUGHT OUR RELATIVES OUT TO THE TOP OF BADGER PASS AND HIKED DOWN THE 10 MILE JOURNEY OF PANORAMA TRAIL THAT DAY. AS IT TURNED OUT THERE WAS A LARGE DOWPOUR OF RAIN. THIS MADE THE GRANITE TRAIL INCREDIBLY SLIPPERY AND I STARTED TO FALL A NUMBER OF TIMES. MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO PART FROM HIS RELATIVES AND WE WENT DOWN A VERY SLIPPERY TRAIL. AFTER SEVERAL FALLS MY LEGS WERE VERY WEAK AND WE ALL GOT TIRED OGF GOING DOWNSLOPE. WE RESTED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND MET UP WITH OUR RELATIVES AT THE VILOLAGE LATER. THEY HAD TAKEN A SHORTER TRAIL!
