25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE

THIS WEEKEND I ENJOYED VIEWING A PLAY PRODUCED BY THE JUNIOR COLLEGE HERE. IT WAS A COMEDY. THE ACTORS WERE ALL DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES AND THEY CHOSE FOUR PEOPLE FROM THE AUDIENCE TO JOIN THEM IN A SPELLING BEE. IT WAS A FUN AND INTERESTING PLAY WHERE THEY HAD A TWO TEACHERS ASK THE STUDENTS TO SPELL SOME STRANGE WORDS. SOME OF THE STUDENTS KNEW EVERY WORD. ONE GUY WROTE OUT THE WORD BY SPELLING IT WITH HIS FOOT ON THE STAGE! IT WAS QUITE FUNNY. AND OF COURSE THE FOLKS FROM THE AUDIENCE HAD FUN TOO. THE ACTORS DANCED AND SANG SOME OF THE TIME AS WELL. IT WAS A CLEVER PLAY APPARENTLY WRITTEN IN THE 90'S. THERE WAS AN ORCHESTRA AS WELL. THEY JOINED IN A CHOIR TO SING AT TIMES AND WENT UP AND DOWN THE AILSES TO ENTERTAIN US. THE ACTORS WERE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. ONCE THEY MISSPELLED A WORD THE SPELLERS SUNG "GOODBYE" MANY TIMES AS THEY DROPPED OUT. AND OF COURSE THE FOLKS FROM THE AUDIENCE DROPPED OUT FIRST. THE FELLA WHO TAPPED OUT HI SWORD WITH HIS FOOT WON AND WAS GIVEN A LARGE TROPHY.
