QUAIL FAMILY TODAY

TODAY I SAW A FAMILY OF QUAIL AND THEY WERE DIGGING HOLES INTO THE SOIL AND THEY WERE BEAUTIFUL. THE MALES ARE LARGER AND HAVE BEAUTIFUL TOP KNOTS AND THE FEMALES ARE THINNER AND THEY ARE PLAIN BROWN IN COLOR AND THEY ARE MUCH SMALLER. THEY WERE BUILDING A NEST IN THE GROUND.

I AM ON TOP OF THE MAYACAMAS RIDGE WHERE I LIVE TEMPORARILY. IT HAS A WONDER FULL VIEW AND THERE ARE MIXED OAKS, DOUGLAS FIRS, AND PEPPER NUT TREES.
