BALE GRIST MILL STATE PARK

I HAVE HIKED AROUND THE BALE GRIST MILL PARK IN NAPA AND DISCOVERED SOME VERY MUDDY TRAILS IN WINTER! IT IS AN INTERESTING MILL THAT ISN'T OPERATING ANYMORE. HOWEVER THEY SELL WHOLE GRAIN BREAD THERE ON WEEKENDS. THE TRAILS GO THROUGH SOME VERY PRETTY MIXED OAK AND DOUG FIR WOODLANDS WITH CREEKS AND SMALL HILLS.

YOU CAN SEE THE OLD MILL BUILDING FROM THE HIGHWAY WHICH GROUND CORN AND WHEAT. THIS 1846 MILL WAS THE SOCIAL CENTER OF THE REGION AND STOPPED OPERATING IN THE EARLY 1990'S. THEY HAVE A PIONEER CEMETERY THERE AS WELL.
