HUMAN RHYTHMS AND THE CYCLES OF THE EARTH

CALIFORNIA NATIVES HAD RENEWAL CELEBRATIONS AND THEY ALSO HAD CEREMONIES FOR VARIOUS TIMES WHEN THEY GATHERED CERTAIN PLANTS AND WHEN THEY CAUGHT SALMON. CERTAIN LUNATIONS WERE DESIGNATED BASED UPON THE SEASON TO PICK PINOLE SEEDS, OR CATCH SALMON. THE WAPPO CALLED ONE LUNAR CYCLE PINOLE MOON. WHEN THE SALMON WERE CAUGHT THEY HAD SALMON SONGS AND SALMON CEREMONIES AT THE RIVERS. THE CENTRAL POMO DESIGNATED A TIME ON THEIR CALENDAR THAT THEY PICKED RIPENED SEEDS. IN APRIL THEY GATHERED YAMPA, ANOTHER ROOT CROP THAT TASTES LIKE CARROTS.

THEY DREW PICTOGRAPHS OF CONCENTRIC CIRCLES ON CAVE WALLS WHERE THEY WERE ILLUMINATED BY THE RISING SUN ON THE WINTER SOLSTICE.

SOME TRIBES CONCEIVED BABIES AROUND CERTAIN SEASONS MARKED BY THE SPROUTING OF PLANTS AND THE ANIMAL BIRTHS.

EARLY ANTHROPOLOGISTS THOUGHT THE INDIGENOUS TRIBES LIVED A NOMADIC LIFE, HOWEVER THEY MIGRATED SEASONALLY TO DIFFERENT ELEVATIONS TO COLLECT PLANTS WITHIN THEIR HOME TERRITORY EACH ELEVATION HAD A SEASONAL CAMP WHICH WAS REPEATEDLY USED. THEY WORKED WITH NATURE RATHER THAN TAKING LARGE AMOUNTS OF CERTAIN ANIMALS. THE PEOPLE WERE GIVEN DIRECTIONS FROM THE SPIRIT WORLD TO PROTECT THE EARTH.
