EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN HEALDSBURG

I WALKED DOWNTOWN TO THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH WHERE THEIR SERVICE WAS QUITE FORMAL AND SIMILAR TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THEY HAD A STORY FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND THERE WERE ABOUT 60 PEOPLE THERE. THE CHURCH IS MADE OF REDWOOD WITH BEAUTIFUL STAINED GLASS WINDOWS. THERE WERE PEOPLE FROM MEXICO AND OTHER TYPES OF ANGLOS/NATIVE AMERICANS. AFTER THE SERVICE I MET SOME OF THE LADIES AND SOME WERE LOOKING FOR JOBS. WE HAD A LOT OF CAKE AND COOKIES FOR VALENTINE'S DAY. THERE WAS A WEDDING HAPPENING AT THE CHURCH THAT AFTERNOON.

THE MINISTER GAVE THE PEOPLE COMMUNION AND I DID NOT PARTAKE OF THE WINE - IT'S AN OLD TRADITION THAT STARTED IN BIBLICAL TIMES.

WE SANG A FEW SONGS WITH "ALLELUIA" AND PEOPLE KNELT ON KNEE PADS DURING SOME OF THE CEREMONY.

NEXT WEEK MARKS THE LENT SEASON WHICH STANDS FOR SPRING AND MOST PEOPLE IN BIBLICAL TIMES FASTED. BY FASTING IT MEANT THAT THEY ONLY ATE 1 MEAL PER DAY INSTEAD OF THREE.
THEY HAVE A PANCAKE DINNER. THEY HAVE A PANCAKE DINNER AT THIS CHURCH THIS WEEK FOR CELEBRATING LENT.
