I HAD TO OVERCOME MY FEAR OF LECTURING TO THE PUBLIC BY TAKING CLASSES AT THE srjc IN SPEECH AS WELL AS SPEAKING TO SMALL GROUPS OUTDOORS ON MY HIKES. I REMEMBER USING TREES AS A MARKER TO BALANCE ME DURING MY SPEECHES AT LIBRARIES. I DECIDED TO GIVE LUNCHTIME PRESENTATIONS AT THE BLM TO OUR SMALL STAFF AND THAT HELPED ME OVERCOME MY ANXIETY OF PUBLIC SPEAKING.
ONCE I WAS A SUPERVISOR OF ARCHAEOLOGISTS I STILL FELT INSECURE ABOUT SPEAKING TO LARGE GROUPS BUT I DECIDED TO PRESENT SLIDE LECTURES TO OUR ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMMUNITY. GRADUALLY I BECAME ABLE TO SPEAK TO GROUPS OF PEOPLE OUTDOORS AND I FELT MOST COMFORTABLE DOING THAT. SO NOW I AM AN INTERPRETOR OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND OF OUR PREHISTORY AND CULTURAL RELATIONS.
